General information:

Bowhunting was originally banned in Britain in 1965. Through the various wildlife protection bills since then the bow and crossbow has been on the prohibited list. The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 is the most recent to keep the addition of the bow as a prohibited means of cull.

The British Bowhunting Association (The BBA) have approached English Nature with a view to undertaking a study into the possibility or allowing this as a method of hunting in the UK.

Before we pursue this avenue any further we need to unite all British Bowhunters into one organisation which can then act as the governing and Bowhunter training body for bowhunting in the UK
